Pressure gauges are an instrument used for measuring the pressure The measurement is specified as the force fluid would exert at rest on a unit area. This force is measured in pounds/square inch or newtons/centimetre. These devices are used almost all over the manufacturing spectrum to monitor the process systems. A Bourdon Gauge is a widely used mechanical device for measuring pressure.

Depending on the requirements, the level of measurement can be defined into three main types.

• Absolute Pressure : This is referenced against a perfect vacuum using an absolute scale.
• Gauge Pressure : This is referenced against the ambient air pressure.
• Differential Pressure : This is the difference in pressure between two points.

They come in all shapes and sizes and range from mechanical devices to very sophisticated electrical ones with sensors, it is the application they are utilized for those matters. The extent of their necessity can only be emphasized by the fact that hardly any industry today can do without their use. They are used everywhere, from medical instruments to food processing, energy generation, chemical processing, and even HVAC systems in our typical households.
