Water flow meters are mechanical devices used to measure water flow volume in pipes. In their basic form, they have a paddle-like rotating piston or a turbine inside which rotates in proportion to the medium flow. This rotation is then calculated to measure the volume of the fluid velocity.
They are simple and robust and require low maintenance. Their accuracy is not as great as other more sophisticated devices like ultrasonic flowmeters.
These instruments are very reliable and easy to maintain, and are easy to construct. However, they wear out over time depending on the wear and tear of the moving parts inside them.
